FAQs
How do I book a session?
Booking is easy. Simply decide which kind of session you would like and send me an enquiry through the website. I will get in touch so we can discuss your session. You'll then pay the session fee and any additional extras such as Client Wardrobe, and we'll book your date.
What's included in the session fee?
Your £150 session fee includes your photography session and three digital images. Once you've viewed your edited gallery, you'll also have the option to purchase additional images, prints, wall art, and albums if you wish.
Is the session fee refundable?
The session fee secures your date in my diary and covers the planning, preparation, and time involved in creating your session, so it is non-refundable. If life throws a curveball, please get in touch as soon as possible and I'll always do my best to help where I can. Please see the terms and conditions for full details.
What should I wear?
Whatever makes you feel most like you. Some clients choose their favourite outfit, while others love exploring the Studio Marie Client Wardrobe. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident.
Tell me about the dresses!
The Studio Marie Client Wardrobe is a collection of handmade, upcycled, and vintage dresses chosen because they photograph beautifully. Many of the dresses are one-of-a-kind pieces and are perfect if you'd like something a little more special without needing to buy a new outfit.
Client Wardrobe hire is £30 per dress per person.
What if I try a dress on from the Client Wardrobe and I don't like it or it doesn't fit?
No problem at all. If you decide a dress isn't right for you after trying it on, I'll refund 50% of the wardrobe fee, provided no photographs or videos have been taken and the dress hasn't been worn beyond the fitting process. If you need more measurements of a dress before your session, please get in touch.
How long does a session last?
Most sessions last around an hour, although I would suggest leaving at least 2 hours as I don't shoot with a stopwatch and I do find it difficult to stop shooting once we hit our stride! Some sessions naturally take a little longer and some are shorter.
When will I receive my photographs?
Edited proof galleries are usually delivered within four weeks of your session.
How do I choose my photographs?
You'll receive a private online gallery of watermarked, low resolution images where you can view all of your edited proof images from the session. From there, you'll choose your three included photographs and can purchase any additional favourites. Once you have selected your favourites, I will upload your final images within 7 days.
Can I share my proof gallery on social media?
Please don't. Proof images are provided purely for image selection and aren't intended for public sharing. Once you've received your final images, you're very welcome to share those.
Can I buy extra images?
Absolutely. There is no pressure to purchase additional images, but you'll have the option if you fall in love with more than your included three.
Can I have the RAW files?
RAW files are unfinished working files rather than completed photographs. Every image delivered by Studio Marie is carefully selected and edited in my signature style, so RAW files are not supplied.
Will you Photoshop me?
My editing style is all about helping you look like the best version of yourself, not a different person. I don't alter body shape, slim waists, change facial features, or digitally reshape people. I can, however, remove temporary distractions such as spots, scratches, bruises, stray hairs, and similar temporary marks where appropriate.
Can I use filters on my photographs?
I'd rather you didn't. A great deal of care goes into creating the final look of every image, and I'd love for you to enjoy them as they were intended.
Can I print my photographs?
Yes. Purchased high-resolution images are suitable for printing and personal display. You can also order professional-quality prints and products directly through your gallery from a third party supplier.
What happens if the weather is terrible?
The British weather likes to keep us on our toes. If conditions are unsafe or likely to significantly affect the quality of your session, we'll simply arrange another date.
Can I bring my partner, children or dog?
Generally no. My See Yourself portrait sessions are designed for you to have a photography experience just for you. Children, partners and dogs are likely to be distracting for both of us. However if you need support from another person in order to attend the session then please get in touch and we can discuss on a case by case basis.
If your child or partner are involved in an equine photoshoot, then of course they can attend but please ensure children are supervised if you are the person responsible for handling your horse.
If you have booked a You and Your Horse photoshoot then additional people may attend if they are there to assist in handling the horse. Please discuss this with me prior to your session.
If you do bring another person to the shoot then I ask that they do not take photos or videos while the shoot is taking place.
Will my photographs be shared online by studio marie?
Only with your permission. You'll complete an image use consent form before your session, and whatever you decide will be fully respected.
Equine FAQs
Does my horse need to be perfectly behaved?
Not at all. If horses were perfectly behaved, half of my favourite photographs wouldn't exist. Your horse simply needs to be safe to handle and comfortable enough to participate. I would recommend that you arrange for at least one other person be available at the shoot to assist in handling your horse. If you don't have another person available to assist, that's no problem as long as you're confident that you can handle your horse.
My horse never stands still. Is that a problem?
Definitely not. Some of the most beautiful photographs happen between the planned poses. Patience is built into every equine session.
What if my horse gets worried?
Horse welfare always comes first. If your horse becomes uncomfortable, stressed, or overwhelmed, we'll pause, adapt, or change the plan. No photograph is more important than your horse's wellbeing.
Can I wear one of your dresses with my horse?
Absolutely. You are very welcome to combine an equine session with a dress from the Studio Marie Client Wardrobe. Many of my dresses will photograph beautifully alongside horses.
What if my horse doesn't like the dress?
If a dress turns out to be unsuitable because of an unforeseen welfare or safety concern, we'll adapt the session and find another approach. Your horse's comfort always comes first.
Do I need to own the horse?
No. However, you must have the owner's permission for the horse to participate in the session.
Does my horse need to be spotless?
Not at all. Horses are allowed to look like horses. A bit of dust, a muddy fetlock, or the occasional stray hair is completely normal. I simply ask that horses, tack, and equipment are presented clean and cared for, as extensive cleaning and retouching isn't included in standard editing.
Will you edit out mud and dirty tack?
Minor distractions may be tidied up where appropriate. However, extensive retouching of horses, tack and equipment isn't included within standard editing.
Can I ride during the session?
Potentially, depending on the location, type of session, insurance requirements, and safety considerations. If riding photographs are important to you, let's discuss this when booking.
Will you tell me what to do?
Yes. I'll guide you throughout the session and help with posing and positioning. That said, participation is always voluntary. You know your horse better than anyone, and you should never feel pressured to do anything that doesn't feel safe or comfortable.
What if the weather is bad?
Horse sessions are particularly dependent on safe conditions. If weather, footing, visibility, temperature, or other environmental factors make the session unsafe or likely to affect image quality, we'll simply reschedule.
Can you guarantee specific photographs?
No. Every horse is different and every session unfolds differently. I can promise I'll bring patience, experience, and a camera. i Some of the best images happen when they're simply being themselves.
